School Closure

On behalf of all the staff in St Lachteens we hope that all members of your families are keeping well during these unprecedented times, with Gods grace and at the right time we look forward to seeing the children again in our classrooms when typical school days resume.  In the meantime the Updates page of the website will have a weekly message and general updates, the updates page will also link to each teachers individual webpage where they will detail suggested work for each week, relevant weblinks, activities , videos etc  We hope this is of assistance to you D. McCarthy

'Tonight before falling asleep think about when we will return to the street. When we hug again, when all the shopping together will seem like a party.
Let’s think about when the coffees will return to the bar, the small talk, the photos close to each other.
We think about when it will be all a memory but normalcy will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.
We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.
Every second will be precious. Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter.
We will go back to laughing together.
Strength and courage.
See you soon! '

Mata Sa Rang
Senior Infants

Mata sa Rang is an early intervention programme aimed at raising children's competency in the various aspects of the number strand. It offers a unique approach to extending children's number knowledge, understanding and strategies using concrete manipulatives and simple games.
At the moment we are playing  lots of games with dominos and playing cards.

Green Schools 2019-2020

Our theme for the next 2 years is global citizenship - litter and waste. Did you know Ireland, per head of population, is among the highest waste producers in Europe. Our waste every year would fill Croke Park to the top of the stands.
Any parent interested in joining the committee please contact the school.

Junior & Seniors Aistear Halloween

Following on from the very enjoyable theme of the home Junior and Senior Infants are now exploring the topic 'Halloween'. Halloween has been our theme in Aistear for the last two weeks. We are making potions in a potion lab, creating ghost trains  in small world, making Halloween things from playdough/sand, building haunted houses in our construction area and painted some bat silhouettes.
